That Reminds Me When
Instructions for the leader
Activity: Episodic Story-Linking Circle Form small groups of 3–5 participants seated in a close circle. Pre-Activity Guidance: Frame the activity as a improvisational memory game that builds active listening and conversational agility. Structure & Rules: Anchor Story: Person 1 shares a brief 1–2 minute personal story from their life. Associative Link: Person 2 links their own story to Person 1's by opening with, "That reminds me when..." and telling a related 1–2 minute story. Curiosity Interruption: At any point, any listener can pause a storyteller by calling out "Oooo lala!". The storyteller must briefly answer one curious follow-up question before finishing their narrative. Timing: Continue story-chaining around the group for 10–15 minutes, ensuring every group member launches at least one story link.
