Laughter Yoga
Instructions for the leader
Gather the group in a circle in a comfortable space. Lead a series of laughter exercises, demonstrating each one clearly. Warm-Up π: Perform a deep inhalation while raising your hands above your head. Exhale with laughter as your hands and feet drop to the floor. Cellphone Laughter π±: Pretend they are holding a cellphone to their ear. The phone call is delivering the funniest news, causing them to burst into an uncontrollable, hearty belly laugh. Greeting Laughter π: Walk around the room and greet each other without using words, but instead, share a genuine laugh while making eye contact. Electric Shock Laughter β‘: As participants make contact (e.g., shaking hands), they pretend to get a playful, mild electric shock, causing them to jolt back and erupt in a sudden burst of laughter. Constipation Laughter π½: Make a strained face, holding tension. On cue, they release all that tension with a loud, relieving laugh. Dr. Evil Laughter π: Bring a pinky finger to the corner of their mouth, adopt a mischievous look, and let out their best "evil genius" laugh, like "Mwahahaha!" Argument Laughter π: In pairs, participants have a pretend argument. They can only use laughter instead of angry words. I Don't Know Why I'm Laughing Laughter π€: Look at each other with a confused expression, shrugging their shoulders, then giggle, which slowly builds into a full laugh. High-Five Laughter π: Walk around the room, giving each other enthusiastic high-fives. With each slap of the hands, both participants share a joyful burst of laughter. Laughter Mixology πΉ: Pretend to be a bartender making a "laughter cocktail." Mime pouring different types of laughter, shaking it, and then "drinking" the final mix with a brand new, unique, and blended laugh. Anger to Laughter π‘: Participants mingle around the room and pair up multiple times. When they pair up, they get angry at each other and act out a fight. But the anger gradually turns into laughter. When one participant starts to laugh, the other participant begins to laugh too. This exercise incorporates play-pretending into laughter yoga. Slippery Banana Peel π: Participants mingle around, pretending to slip on banana peels. As they slip and fall to the ground, they start to laugh and then laugh on the ground.
