Joymaker Huddle
Instructions for the leader
Best played during a public dance party or any gathering in a shared space — a park, a plaza, a beach, a street corner. The facilitator calls everyone in: "Huddle up!" The group packs shoulder to shoulder, arms around each other, leaning in close. The facilitator sets the mission: "Right now, this party belongs to us. But joy multiplies when it's shared. In a moment, we're going to expand the party — we're going out to meet the people around us. High fives, smiles, dance moves, invitations to join. If someone's watching from the sidelines, they're our first guest." On the count of three, the huddle breaks with a cheer — and the Joymakers scatter into the public space. They offer high fives to passersby, dance with anyone who's willing, and warmly invite onlookers into the party. Nobody is pushy: a smile and an open hand, and if someone declines, you move on with a grin. After a few minutes, the facilitator calls everyone back into the huddle for one final cheer — usually louder than the first, because the party just got bigger. Facilitator tips: read the space and the crowd first. Lead by example — be the first one out offering high fives. Keep it short and electric; leave the public wanting more.
