Instructions for the leader

Gather the group in an open space. Play the song "Duel of the Fates" by Samuel Kim. Each participant wields an imaginary lightsaber. They engage in pretend battles with others using dramatic swings and blocks, with no physical contact. Participants can also use “the Force” (e.g., hand waves to “push”), and opponents must react to the move, either by using the force back or stumbling or falling backward. Players can also use Jedi Mind Tricks by placing their two fingers on their temples. They instruct their opponent to obey or act out something. The options are endless and hilarious (eg. You will join my team, You will bock like a chicken). Players cannot die. So no one is ever not playing. The goal is collaborative play, not winning or losing. Demonstrate a lightsaber swing and Force gesture to clarify.
